Farms & Smallholdings
Farming has shaped Silverwell for generations, and it remains at the heart of village life today. The surrounding land is still largely used by farms and smallholdings, with three working farms anchoring the local economy: Greenacres Farm, Silverwell Farm, and the Chapmans’ Farm. Whether you’re visiting or considering making Silverwell your home, we’d encourage you to support and be respectful of these important local businesses. Expect to encounter farm machinery, noises… and smells!
Cottage Industries
In recent years, Silverwell has diversified and become home to several thriving cottage industries. These include:
Cube Recording – Silverwell is home to Cube – one of Cornwall’s premier recording studios. It’s based at Penvale Barn and hosts full band recording, production, and on-site accommodation. So, if you bump into a celebrity musician exploring the area, they’re probably taking a break from a recording session at Cube!
Snazzy Balloons – family-run balloon decoration for weddings, parties, and events, based at Worthy Vale Barn.
DB Woodburners – local woodburner supplier and installer, based at Foxfields.
Health & Wellbeing
Align with Sari – life coaching, yoga, and massage therapy, based at The Cottage at Coldharbour Farm.
Silk Healing – facial and massage training, plus holistic treatments, based at The Hide.
Charity
Chiverton Riding Centre (Riding and Driving for the Disabled – Chiverton Group) – this is Silverwell’s local charity, offering riding and carriage driving for people with disabilities. chivertonrda.co.uk
Pubs & Eateries
There are no pubs in Silverwell. However, two are within walking distance. These are the Miners Arms in Mithian, and the Chiverton Arms at Chiverton Cross.
Post Office
Unfortunately Silverwell no longer has a post office. But, there is a post box in the centre of the village, next to our small village green. The nearest Post Office is now in Blackwater.
